Maha Hasebou has been serving as the Deputy General Manager of Strategic Sustainability (ESG) at the National Bank of Egypt (NBE) since 2017. Education and Expertise

Maha Hasebou holds an Executive MBA from The American University in Cairo, which she completed from 2013 to 2014. She also earned a Bachelor of Arts from the same university between 1997 and 2003. Additionally, she studied at the Egyptian Banking Institute, where she achieved certification in CSR International Practices in the Banking Sector. Hasebou further enhanced her expertise in sustainability reporting by obtaining the GRI for Sustainability Reporting Certification from the Arabia CSR Network in 2010.

Background

Maha Hasebou co-founded the first non-governmental organization (NGO) within the Egyptian banking sector in 2007, focusing on capacity building for nurses and improving service quality in the public health sector. She also co-founded MOSTADAM, the first executive educational platform in Egypt dedicated to banking e-learning on sustainable finance, in partnership with Frankfurt University. Her initiatives reflect a commitment to enhancing both the banking sector and community welfare.

Achievements

Hasebou has represented the National Bank of Egypt at various international conferences, including the UN COP14 in Sharm El Sheikh and the Paris Summit for Green Bank design in 2018. She founded a national banking competition for university undergraduates, which expanded to include 11 universities and generated 70 banking products over seven years. In recognition of her efforts in corporate social responsibility, she received the Euromoney 'Best CSR in Middle East' award in June 2016.

Maha Hasebou developed NBE's marketing strategy for fiscal year 2018, focusing on sustainable marketing planning.
