Barry McDermott: CTO & Co-Founder
Barry McDermott holds the position of Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Co-Founder at Relevium Medical. In this capacity, he is responsible for the technical leadership and innovation within the company. Barry’s role encompasses overseeing pharmaceutical development, starting from the identification of initial needs, through Chemistry, Manufacturing, and Controls (CMC) planning, in vitro testing, clinical trial design, and regulatory strategy.
Barry McDermott's Education and Expertise
Barry McDermott has a diverse and extensive educational background. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (BSc (Pharm)), is a Member of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (MPSI), has a Veterinary Medicine degree (MVB), a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng), and holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). This multi-disciplinary training supports his competence in pharmaceutical development and technical innovation at Relevium Medical.

Outside of his professional life, Barry McDermott enjoys an active lifestyle and various personal interests. He is an enthusiastic jogger and frequently runs along the seafront in Galway with his two rescue dogs. In his leisure time, Barry likes to spend quality moments with his family, read various books, and engage in retro-gaming.
